Z Block Records was originally designed to promote the concept of DIY music in South Wales in 1978. The first release was Reptile Ranch's Lifeguard, released with support from Scritti Politti in 1979.
Later that year, Z Block released the first Cardiff compilation LP, Is The War Over? featuring the first vinyl release of the legendary Young Marble Giants. A history of Z Block can be found at http://www.appelstein.com/ymg/
Z Block 2006 will be releasing a new DIY compilation featuring many of the original Z Block crew plus some interesting 'newcomers'. MP3 downloads will be avilable here shortly, the official Z Block Records online shop can be accessed via http://www.zblock.co.uk
