okay, so i'm an 18 year old girl just looking to find more music to listen to. i live for music, most of the time anyway. my older brother has been a huge influence on everything that i listen to, and the one band that i chose for myself [hanson] just went independent last year, so that's pretty sweet i guess. anyway, i'm sick of listening to what everyone else is listening to, and i'm sick of being influenced to listen to certain music- not that i don't <3 what my brother has told me to listen to over the years (he has a killer ear). i just think it's time for me to make up my own mind about things, and i'm hoping that indie911 will be a good place for me to start.

the only true judge i have of music is if it's danceable. i mean, i know that everybody needs something to mope around to sometimes, but most of the time i need something that gets me excited. who doesn't? i like to have fun and, consequently, i like my music to be  fun. unless i'm in an alternate mindset... you know what i'm talking about... then i like to think about lyrics and music arrangements. bob dylan's great for the lyrical part and the beach boys are fantastic at arrangements. heros and villians... my god, it's incredible.

right now, i'm obsessing over fiona apple's new album: extraordinary machine. if you haven't listened to it, i'm telling you, DO IT NOW! you won't be sorry. and of course, me being the diehard hanson fan that i am, i totally suggest their new cd: live and electric. it's real good. i saw them in minneapolis last week at the quest club. best night of my life... maybe you think it's lame, but if you really love music, then you know what it's like to see your favorite person/people perform. nothing's better in the whole wide world.

alright, if anybody has anything to say to me, just write me an email. though i don't like to be influenced in what i listen to, i <3 suggestions and i <3 making new friends.

by the way, if you want to know a killer website fighting for independent artists, check out http://www.areyoulistening.com. i think you'll like it. make sure to watch the video!!

i read in the hollywood reporter that this site is a mix between myspace and iTunes so you discover music, download it, watch videos, get ringtones, podcasts, etc. Erin Toland and Andrew RIpp have pretty cool ringtones...you should check 'em out.
