Penthesilea

Addicted music lover, singer, dancer and songwriter...Get respect for all authentic artists and groups! For example, I got no respect for all these singing puppets who make the Majors get richer and richer, but who disappear the ones after the others without leaving a trace, a memory in people's hearts and minds! If you see what I mean...

My name is Penthesilea, singer and songwriter: French native, writing in English. Sometimes, when you listen to my songs, you can hear that lil French accentuation in my words that can bring misunderstanding, lol, but I like it like that!
Talking about my pseudo Penthesilea, it used to be the name of an Amazon Queen, in Greek Antiquity. I chose this pseudo to set a confirmed female character in music. I  want to be accepted in the music industry for my work and talents, and show that an artist can be otherwise than just a marketing product!

France is the place where Ive always been living, but my ambition is American. It is because I grew up in a ghetto (La cité Anatole France, Nanterre, but at shanty town times), that I learned to live with multi  cultural people. By listening to all kinds of music, I became deeply influenced by Black music: Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip-hop, Reggae, Afrobeat Ive got my own identity and my own style, but in the respect of my musical references. Since 1991, Ive experienced stage performances with many different pop rock and funk groups, but I could never stay attached to one of them. All Ive been searching for so many years was a music producer who could write for me, in the respect of my personality, until I met Karar. I work with Karar who has been producing my musics since 2002. One day he heard one of my songs on the radio, and he asked me for a collaboration. As a son of musicians, his musics show the reflection of his versatility, they are always rich, all different and eclectic. In a few years, Karar became my official composer and producer. From now on, you cant talk about Penthesilea without Karar.

My messages are as important as the music I write on. Before all, I want my words to get heard.
My style is not limited to one musical style and I prove it:
For example, in 2000, I sang on a House music track named Suave Tempo, signed on the French label Prozak Trax (Kojac), with the internationally known House Music producers of Plaisirs de France. This song was played in every switched-on House night clubs of Paris, New-York...Even if that music was not the kind I was used to sing on, I accepted to put the hook on it and did it with pleasure.

And when in 2002, a selecta asked me to write on a tune, I wrote the song Tituba 4ever, based on the Wailers music of 4ever loving Jah. This song was played on several radios in France and other countries: Jet FM, Radio Prune, Radio System, in France, Jakarta radio in Indonesia, and  Ppbs station you can listen on Soundclick.com
In France, this song was well acclaimed. But French labels pretend they cant sign me because I sing in English, and they accept exclusively French written songs...
