I am a successful "hit" songwriter/record producer with skills to pay the bills...lol Most of my dreams, especially the ones my family and closest friends thought were crazy, have been realized. I come from a small town where dreams are often hard to share but through it all I kept believing in myself. From the first record deals I signed with Capitol Records, Virgin Records, Elecktra Records, and Universal Records to the current deals I have with SONY BMG labels, the one thing that always holds true is the need for good "songs." Whether it was "Dick Clark" on "American Bandstand" introducing my song "Hooked on That Lovin Thang" or "Don Cornelius" introducing me and my band on "Soul Train," while we performed our #1hits "Da Butt" or "Taste of Your Love," I always felt that it would happen for me.

Having been blessed enough to have seen my own songs at the top of the charts(#1, #2, #5, or #7, I am now open to helping what I call "star quality" individuals with their pursuit of a career in music. It doesn't matter whether your genre is country, rap, rock, pop, hip hop, r&b or jazz, I am familiar with all genres. The main thing that you need, no matter what, is a "hit." I always emphasize the need to gain an understanding of the "business of music" as one of the most important aspects of pursuing such a path... To actually know where you want to end up you have to know where to start. Too often the new breed of artists think that it's all about your image... It's not!

I have witnessed some of the most beauitful singers, both male and female, and if they don't have that special magic that connects with the masses they are passed on. One of the most misunderstood aspects of the business is where "royalties" are derived from... If you don't know the difference between mechanical royalties, performance royalties, artist royalties, production royalties, cross-collateralization, etc. or even why these royalties are even paid out... then you have a lot to learn before you can seriously consider a music career...

Right now I just want to enjoy whatever short or long life I have and try and make a positive contribution. I still look forward to being on yet another world tour with my own "New Youth Coalition" group... which does a theatrical performance... The same drive I had when I used to wonder how to get that record deal... or whether we'd ever tour the world with a hit... or whether we'd ever go "platinum"... is the same drive I have today! I am just looking for a few more individuals to share my new dreams with. They should be able to dance, sing, perhaps play an instrument, etc. Most of all, they should be able to "dream." Nothing happens without that initial dream...

Finally, on the "production" tip, the songs you will hear on my music page are just a few random examples from my own pre-production demo for the Sony BMG release this year... The only song that matters to the label, however, is the one called "Just a Dream" which is a duet I sing with the 6-time Grammy winner Toni Braxton... I am not allowed to post that song on the site but don't be surprised if I sneak it on at some point...at least a small snippet of it... Feel free to forward any and all questions you may have to me. Most of all, go for your dreams and don't let anyone discourage you!!!
