Terry Daun's Details
Hello.
My bio and a variety of photos, Press , and most all of my songs are at:In a nut shell... at 50, I look like I'm 35 and feel better than I did at 25. How it happened, can't say for sure. As with most rockers my age, we are all lucky to be here. I played drums professionaly in bands for nearly 38 years before returning to my first love since age 4, the black and white keys. (Much easier to carry around than a set of drums.)
As far as my music goes... I am currently a one man band. Up to now, all of my music has been created by me. I am available for shows in and around Phoenix, Arizona at this time. If you ask me to do a show, please understand that there is no band, only me on keys. The music still sounds great! Also, I don't need the money. Exposure and cd sales is good with me.
Musicians in Phoenix Metro... I would ultimately like to build a band to perform all parts of my music, but for the near future I am looking for someone, who likes to show off yet can save something for the next tune, to join me on stage for some psychedelic fusion fun. Someone who might play like: Jimi, Alan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, George Benson, Vai, etc, etc. would fit right in. It could be guitar, horn or reed. This will be primarily instrumental music. It could be fun! Let me know.
Many, many thanks to all of the cool and interesting people from around this small planet of ours who have extended their friendship to me.

"Taking Flight" (the album) is done musically. I have sent out a few test releases and I've been getting some excited responses. Of course, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. This album is all instrumental. There is some heavy guitar work and some mellower, spacy tunes as well. Everything was done using a Korg Triton Le, except for the cool giutar solo on "Tax", which was done by my good friend Jose' Diaz in Victoria, Texas.
Jose' contributed his guitar work as a token of friendship and generousity. Thanks buddy!
The music is a blend of synth sounds and traditional instruments. There will be 15 tunes in all on the CD and will be priced at $8.97 on CdBaby in Feb. 2007
1) Seedz 4:17 I called it Seedz due to the early "influences" of Rundgren, Zappa, Jon Luc Ponty and Alan Holdsworth.
2) Tax 3:19 This is just one of my "heavies" included on the CD. Jose' Diaz does a great job on his guitar solo. This is a moderate, serious groove, heavy guitars and synth ROCKER!
3) Psycho 4:06 It's a pretty psycho tune for sure. I like the drum solos I did towards the end the most.
4) Wind Blown 3:52 This tune is cool! I really like this one. It has a nice groove and a cool ethnic flute lead running through the tune. Big brass sound and lots of solos.
5) She Speaks 2:58 Well, what can I say? After seeing Jeff Beck in Tempe in March '06, I went home and came up with sort of a tribute to Jeff and Jan Hammer. Guitar and synth leads.
6) Logan Ran 3:58 Inspired by of course one the greatest SciFi movies ever "Logan's Run". Lots of sounds!
7) April 3:44 I wrote this in April. Great tune to put on while driving up to Payson from Phoenix. (Actually, all of these are great for driving.)
8) Why Not 5:52 A little long for me? Yes, but it goes by painlessly. Sort of a serious, cool mood evoked. Not what I would call a "happy" tune.
9) Not Much 3:45 A cool, easy going tune with keys and heavy synth.
10) My Watch 3:05 Oh yea! I want to do some more like this. Serious percussion happening here folks. Cool sax lead. Brass accompaniment.
Very little synth.
11) Taking Flight 3:28 A favorite of mine for awhile Written in 2005. A soaring tune with major synth activity. I named the CD "Taking Flight" because it depicts me finding my voice, which I believe is instrumentals.
12) Freight 3:41 Heavy guitars again. Lots of solos. Picture a train pulling out of the station. It picks up steam and eventually is at top speed heading through magestic mountainous valleys where it begins to arrive at it's next stop.
13) Not Far 3:32 Heavy synth production here. Very pretty tune, in my opinion. Thoughtful and possibly inspiring tune. I just love it.
14) Guitars 2:13 I liked the patch on the Korg and gave it try. I came up with this litte jam with acoustic guitars and synth accompaniment.
15) For Micheal 2:58 A fast two step beat jam with guitars and such. My long time friend Micheal provides the guitar feedback (originally recorded on 2 track in 1977) at the end.
Produced, performed and recorded by Terry Daun.

Here is what some folks have said...
Khiki Kavan. Limelight Radio Show
Terry Daun “She Speaks”
This track is an instrumental with a jazz feel. It is well layered... It has the feel of some of the older instrumental tracks I would imagine on bands such as Rush or Yes’ albums. It’s also pretty trippy, so give it a listen!
Michael Quinn. For Rainmaker PR.
Daun is one of those artists with the enviable ability to acquire knowledge, technique and inspiration from musicians and groups they admire, yet retain a unique sound.
Laura Turner Lynch for Kweevak.com (a highlight review of Game On
...a blend of classic rock influences and experimental electronica with a dash of psychedelic and R&B thrown in for good measure... a diverse range of textures and tempos... a creative carnival of images and tones. Game On is an ambitious project...
From Neu Futur (zine) (a highlight review of Game On) “Give A Little” has Daun steal the practice tapes of Journey for the instrumentation of the track. ...there is a sort of fun, almost Atom and His Package meets David Hasslehoff sound to the output of Daun. There is some commonality with artists like Steve Lieberman (and more so) Mizar, but Daun’s bread and butter is electronic and R&B music, for sure. Top Tracks: Lady of the Night, Get Up. Rating: 5.4/10 [JMcQ]
I have also been selected by the following:
The Limelight Radio Show for "She Speaks" dedicated to Jeff Beck & jan Hammer
Adrenaline Nation TV for "Scarey Times" heavy orchestral & very scary.
Jetsetsound.com (TV/Film placement) for " A Walk In The Park", "Get Up", "I Still Love You", "Taking Flight", and "She Speaks".
