Indie911’s Small Screen Film Festival is the only online international film festival catering to content on the small screen. The SSFF aims to become an internationally recognized platform for celebrating and showcasing films no longer than twenty minutes in length.
Audiences anywhere on the globe are able to access entries to the SSFF from the indie911.com website.
WHAT’S THE POINT? To empower filmmakers across the globe with a channel and platform to allow mobile devices and computers to screen films that were never previously shown outside a festival setting to attract a wider audience. Of course major studios have experimented with “mobisodes” or short videos featuring clips of shows like ABC’s “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives,” but thus far, most of these releases have been regarded within the creative community as little more than an added value promotion.
“The problem with content of this nature is that it was created for TV: the conventional platform,” contends Justin Goldberg, founder and CEO of indie911.com, one of the largest online networks for independent filmmakers and artists. “The key is to recognize that a short is an art-form unto itself, and just as the guitar became a separate instrument from the electric guitar, so is the mobile short now positioned to take its place in the evolution of entertainment.”
Indie911 is proud to continue building a platform for independents of all shapes and sizes to showcase their work!
