ABOUT THE SONGWRITER LEON NEWTON
Leon Newton has not given up his day job as a Professor. Songwriter Leon Newton enjoys writing country music and has country songs waiting to be published and recorded. Leon says "I write country music because you can tell stories about life and the struggles that we all go through. In fact, if you take time to listen you can learn a lot from country songs".
Although country is his forte, he has also written in other genres such as folk,blues,rock,rap and christian.
Within Leon's career he has competed for "Song of the Year" being judged by some of the biggest names in the music industry. It is a competition where songwriters have to compete against each other all over the world for honor. Leon has been runner up twice, once in August 2006 for his song "Global Warming" and again in October 2006 for "Cintia". The song, "Love Song Story was considered a finalist in the contest for January 2007. All these songs can be heard on itunes, Rhapsody, indie911.com/leon-newton and other download sites.
Leon said he wrote the song "Race Car Junky" for NASCAR race drivers and fans in hopes the NASCAR Association will hear and like the song to play at their sporting events. He said he wrote "Global Warming" because as music artist we have a responsibility to make the world and environment safe. The song has been downloaded from all over the world to help spread the word about the threat about Global Warming because music is an art form that can touch and moves us to act like no other.
