About In Memory Of My Father
Christopher Jaymes was born on July 19, 1973 in Long Beach, California. He was an only child growing up in the household of his mother as his father was distant prior to the age of one. Most of his childhood was spent in Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach until moving into a loft in downtown Los Angeles at the age of seventeen with a group of musicians and skateboarders.
His teens were filled with a range of activities including Rescue Scuba Diving, competitive snow skiing, acting classes, though it was the act of skateboarding boarding that landed him a Footlocker commercial and got things started within the entertainment industry. During that same period, he debuted in a lead role in CBS M.O.W. Murder in New Hampshire starring Helen Hunt.
At the age of eighteen, Christopher began playing the piano and six months later attended Berklee College of Music, Boston where he studied piano, arranging and orchestration. Immediately following his four terms at Berklee, he toured and recorded with various bands through the U.S. and Canada until deciding to stop for awhile in Ecuador and London, eventually returning to Los Angeles in 1994.
Between 1994 and 1996, he was a member of the conservatory of South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa Mesa where he performed several plays on both the Main and Second stages, including "Three Sisters" and "Measure for Measure" and began getting acting jobs in shorts and independent films for the first time after his music and traveling phases.
From 1997 through 1999, he starred in numerous plays including the role of Claire in Jean Genet's "The Maids" at L.A.T.C. and Don Baker, the blind guitarist and lead in "Butterflies Are Free" at the Matrix Theater in 1999.
From there, he started working on independent films behind the camera in different positions, such as editor, script supervisor, producer and director. He has directed numerous music videos and short films, as well as, the award-winning film, In Memory of My Father, his feature debut. He has recently completed a novel about his experiences in post-Tsunami Thailand where he worked for six weeks assisting the cleanup efforts.
