About AShunDa - RasTa CHanTa
Music has taken on a new name and his name is "AShunDa", age 28 and incarnate in Barbados. He started singing in the schools choir at the age of 10. Roots and Dubs caught AShunDas
attention because of how the music was orchestrated, especially the
base line. In Barbados, there are two main types of music Reggae and
Calypso. AShunDa
decided to focus on Reggae more than Calypso because of the tempo and
the consciousness of the lyrics. He grew up listening to artist like
Gregory Isaacs, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Kidd Site, Fafa,
Kurti and Fat Man. AShunDa recently performed at Zanzibar Night Club as
the opening act for Third World band.
In
1999 he began to work with an engineer name Maylon from D.C. who
taught AShunDa more about engineering. As his engineering ability grew
in music and electrical, he started working as a technician for Demus
of the sound system Royalty
hooking up the amps, turntables and speakers. In 1998, he got his first
computer, so he was able to produce his tracks, through self-teaching
he learnt the different softwares in the music industry such as Cubase,
FL Studio, Master track pro, Protools and Nuendo. He practiced and
worked hard, which took his musical career to a height touring in the
UK.
His goal is to continue producing positive, authentic music and develop
his Youth Engineering Program in teaching the poor and have-nots. Music
to AShunDa is the strongest form of communication to the youths and
adults without a struggle. AShunDa has just released the new compilation album "Chah" in May 2007 featuring his hit songs like "It is U Jah" and "Inna Zion". Look for his new album "Be Mindful" coming soon.
