About Adam Evil & The Outside Royalty
If Ziggy Stardust, Ludwig von Beethoven and Bela Lugosi were to form a band... that's how someone described us after a show in Philadelphia a few months ago...and it's really not a bad description. Finding a few words to quickly communicate what Adam Evil & The Outside Royalty are all about is no easy task. It's tempting to just adopt one of the convenient titles floating around in the today's music scene like 'alternative rock' or 'neo-glam', but no, that doesn't really cut it for us. The Adam Evil sound has been influenced by a wide range of artists including T.Rex, Nick Cave, The Kinks, Supergrass, ELO, Roxy Music and even Type-O Negative. Since the beginning, Adam Evil fans have come to expect and receive an uncommonly broad spectrum of sound and style at every show.
While remaining faithful to the belief that melody is king, Adam Evil & The Outside Royalty creates music that is anything but predictable. A piece that begins as a straight forward guitar rocker may easily evolve into a sweeping anthem driven by violin, cello and multiple synthesizers. When playing live, we like to create a complete experience for the listener. At any given show you can always expect to find a couple of giant electric candelabras, a lightshow and the occasional painted nude body dancing its way across the stage. The most interesting word we've ever heard used to describe an Adam Evil show is 'phantasmagoric'. After looking it up, we were pretty flattered.
The band members hail from all over the Eastern U.S. and have converged in the fine town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to do our thing. Over the last year, Adam Evil & The Outside Royalty has been actively playing gigs and showcases throughout the Midwest and Northeast including Philadelphia, Cincinnati and New York City, with frequent shows for our fanbase in Pittsburgh.
"Evil has a girl in red patent leather go-go boots playing violin. Evil has a light show. Evil has killer hooks and hard-driving Rock tunes. Evil has new fans in the Queen City."
