About Dove
Wynonah Dove (Bush) Couch is originally from the Coalfields of Southwestern Virginia. She is an actress, Appalachian Vocalist/Storyteller, songwriter, & musician. She has been performing professionally since 1990 (age 12). In 1993, she received the 1st Place State Vocalist Award from State 4-H Congress held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. That title led to numerous entertainment bookings throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for the State Fair, county fairs, festivals, political functions, state legislative dinners, state government departments, & weddings, etc. During the summer of 1994, she starred in "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine", the state outdoor drama of Virginia, playing the lead - June Tolliver. Later that year and during 1995, she toured with an Appalachian theatre ensemble, Sweet Winds Blowin', which featured Appalachian traditional storytelling & music. At the end of their tour, Sweet Winds Blowin' appeared to a sold out audience at the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia during the 1995 Highlands Festival.
After high school graduation, Dove starred in a 1995 PBS film, Class Action filmed in Richmond, Virginia. During high school, she had also held the Smoky Mountain Invitational Forensics Tournament "Persuasive Speech" title two years in a row, held a top five VHSL state ranking for 3 years & the VHSL 1st Place State Title in 1994.
Since high school, Dove has recorded several CD's featuring Bluegrass and Mountain Music that she has written & co-produced. She has performed for events from Maryland to Florida and has worked with Roadside Theater, the touring company that is part of Appalshop: the organization working to preserve Appalachian heritage & legacies through the arts. While in college, she worked as a radio personality, first for a bluegrass station and then in Top 40. Dove even worked a couple of years at the local funeral home before deciding to make the "BIG" move. She moved to Nashville, TN in 2001 appearing on the stage of the Wildhorse Saloon and various venues around town including monday-night bluegrass jams on-stage with the late, legendary Hillbilly Jazz/Bluegrass artist Vassar Clements - before deciding to pursue "Artist Tribute" work as Dolly Parton. Since the fall of 2003, she has been residing in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Among others, she has shared fair & festival stages with Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mt. Boys, Jim & Jesse, Andy Griggs, the Osborne Brothers, and Mark Collie. In the fall of 2004, Dove performed for two days in the VIP Village at the Darlington Raceway in SC for the NASCAR Mt. Dew Southern 500. After living and working in Myrtle Beach, SC as a Special Events Coordinator for Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort & Kingston Plantation - Dove is currently back in residence in Nashville!
Dove is affiliated with BMI as a songwriter and also performs Tribute Shows as Dolly Parton & Patsy Cline.
